Despite his marketing/finance degrees, it was his typing skills he learned in high school that got him a secretarial job at an L.A. advertising agency. At night he attended Ad Center to build his copywriting portfolio eventually landing him copywriting jobs at J. Walter Thompson and Saatchi and Saatchi. This award-winning ad writer created tv commercials that received high ASI (Advertising Specialty Institute) recall for Toyota spots. Quote from ASI, “Affirmation of the term ‘Humorous’ was among the highest levels seen for car commercials.”
Paul has performed at theHollywood Improvand various L.A. stand-up comedy venues. For material he draws on his Chinese-American culture, Arizona desert roots, his observation of the rich and privileged from a blue collar perspective as a tennis coach, interracial marriage, his so-called Hollywood life, and stuff that pisses him off. Paul is a two-time state Arizona high school singles tennis champion. He and his brothers led their high school to five state team championships. Between he and his siblings including his sister they won eight single state titles and one state doubles title. His father lettered at the University of Arizona and was the first Asian-American to play on a varsity sports team at UA.
Paul is a tennis, pickleball, and typti teaching pro in SoCal.
